Tool Re-orientation with AdaOne
Proud to share a new application with our partner Additive Engineering Solutions, who specialize in large-format, high-performance composite printing.
In this project, the extruder was purposefully tilted to follow the curvature of a complex tooling surface — a choice made to optimize bead compaction and improve in-plane thickness for post-processing like machining.
With AdaOne’s Tool Path Editor, AES was able to easily re-orient the tool along specific segments of the path, applying smooth transitions and geometric constraints to match the part’s evolving geometry. As the part grew taller (over 6 feet!), the extruder gradually returned to vertical, adapting automatically throughout the build.
Thanks to the AES team for the collaboration — always pushing what’s possible with robotic additive manufacturing.
